G'day;
Just joined at the suggestion of Chris Lambkin.
How do I add/include my previous observations?
Cheers
Brett

Hi Brett, welcome to our Backyard Species Discovery project! We are thrilled that you’ve decided to join us and can’t wait to see what you find in your backyard.

We have some fact sheets that will help explain how you can take part on our website. Instructions on how to add your previous observations can be found at this link (you'll have to copy and paste it into your browser):

https://bushblitz.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/BackyardSpeciesDiscovery_Factsheet-1_Introduction.pdf

You could also watch the iNaturalist Video Tutorial on ‘How to take identifiable photos’ (under the More tab).

Good luck and we hope to see your photos soon!

That's excellent, thank you :-)

With the other projects I'm involved with, my new obs are added automatically.
Is there a way to do that with this project as I add new obs?
I assume it's a project setting at your end?
Cheers
Brett

Hi Brett, the other projects you're involved in must be "collection" projects for which observations are added automatically. Our project is a "traditional" one whereby observations have to be manually added so we hope you are still keen to do that - thank you for all the observations you have added so far!

No prob's. I'm still not quite sure of the use of projects on iNat; they are quite different to the Bowerbird projects. Had to add to them manually on there to though.
I ran out of time. to add any more. Are there any types of obs your prefer? I recall seeing something like this before, but didn't think the "Backyard" applied ... we are a 180 acre sanctuary. I can just work through my nearly 900 obs and add them all over time if you'd like.

Hi there - I should have checked here first before I added some of my existing iNat Bushfire Recovery observations. Is this project restricted to urban backyards? We live beside the 24,000 hectare Torrington SCA and have been combing it for surviving wildlife and flora. Are our observations appropriate for this project? Cheers and thanks, Lise

Hi Lise and Brett. Just confirming that we are using a very broad definition of 'backyard' for this project so anywhere in your local area is fine.

Great, good to know! Cheers Lise

Ah, good, thanks for the clarification :-)

Hi all, historic observations can be batch uploaded to Traditional Projects by this method:

Go to your "Edit Observations" page.
Select "Batch Edit" near the top of the filters.
Tick the boxes next to the observations you wish to add to the project, or apply additional filters, then tick the boxes.
At the top of the filters area select "Add to Project" to drop down a list of projects you have joined.
Select "Add" on the list next to the name of this project.
That's it. Give it a few minutes and they will appear in the project. Be careful adding too many at once. Smaller batches work better.
(Feel free to remove this comment if you'd prefer people not to batch add)
Hope this helps.

Thanks Geoff, I looked at the batch edit but couldn't see how to add to this project. I'll have another go with your instructions.
Cheers
Brett

That worked. You can even accidentally select obs you've already added and it just tells you they've already been done.
I didn't see the "Add to Project" button before. Instead I went into the "Edit" button and didn't see any projects.
Thanks again :-)
