Five miles of paths along streams, through meadows and native plant gardens, and under the shade of a rich bottomland forest attract nature lovers, gardeners, students and birders. The Arboretum offers programs year-round in ecology, horticulture, and natural history for all ages. The site features over 600 species of native shrubs, trees, wildflowers, and grasses.
Come get to know Adkins through a BioBlitz! A BioBlitz is a focused effort to document all the living organisms—from fungi to large mammals—within a specific area at a given point in time. Volunteers of all ages fan out to catalog every plant and animal they can find in what is essentially a free-wheeling scavenger hunt. Our goals for the Adkins BioBlitz are to (a) collect information on flora and fauna from diverse habitats around the property, (b) get more familiar with the site, and (c) have fun and be outside!
