Her silk has been deposited on the underside of a leaf. Throughout the day she will move from it. I have seen her inside tending to it after it gets wet. I think there are smaller spiderlings in the silk too but it’s too hard to see.
What
Rufous Net-casting Spider (Asianopis subrufa)Observer
smellydemonDescription
Female with net suspended. Has lived on my balcony for at least 12 months (with smaller females) and laid at least one egg sac, maybe two. I believe the white spots on the leaf below are her faeces that she uses for aiming spots.

smellydemonDescription
First photo: Hatchlings - Egg sac laid a few months ago by large female net casting spider who protected it for that time but has since died/moved. They are about a day old here and have not started moulting in this photo. The next morning there were more of them. The following day they began moulting. I would guess there are at least 100 of them.
Second photo: spiderlings - taken 15th January 2022 (4 days after first photo)

Rta Clade (Zoosection Rta clade)Observer
smellydemonDescription
Large spider, light brown and uneven in colour (like a wolf spider). At least 8cm leg span. Chased inside from the 2nd floor balcony by the cat (we rescued it and placed it outside). Did not run like a huntsman, it walked. Had very long, slender legs with a round, not flat, body. Photo is of underside, no photo of top side. Not sure about ID - huntsman? Wolf spider? Water spider?
