Auditory communication in impalas (Aepyceros): alarm-calls, masculine calls, and confusion between the two

Compared to other bovids, impalas (Aepyceros) communicate unusually raucously.

This is by means of

  • sneeze-snorting in alarm, and
  • masculine roaring/growling/sneeze-snorting.
