The mountain goat (Oreamnos americanus), also known as the Rocky Mountain goat, is a large-hoofed mammal found only in North America. Despite its vernacular name, it is not a member of Capra, the genus that includes the wild goat, Capra aegagrus, from which the domestic goat is derived.
The body of a Mountain Goat (Oreamnos americanus) is large and covered with dense white wool. They have two long black horns that project upward from the top of their head and curve backward. They also have a short tail, and a beard.
Currently found on the Uinta Mountain Range of northern Utah, and on parts of the Tushar Mountain Range in Beaver and Piute County, and possibly Sevier County.
