The cinereus shrew or masked shrew (Sorex cinereus) is a small shrew found in Alaska, Canada and the northern United States. This is the most widely distributed shrew in North America, where it is also known as the common shrew. It is a very small animal, measuring only 3.5 inches long including its 1.5 inch long tail. It is grey-brown in colour with a light grey underside and a pointed snout. Its tail is pale on bottom with a darker top and a black tip, making it tricolored. It has darker coloring compared to other shrews.
It is not found in Iron County.
