Galium boreale or northern bedstraw is a plant species of the Rubiaceae. It is widespread over the temperate and subarctic regions of Europe, Asia and North America including most of Canada and the northern United States.

Height:
1 to 2.5 feet

Leaves:
Narrow (0.25 inches wide) and toothless in whorls of 4, from 0.75 to 2 inches long

Flower:
Dense clusters of small (0.25 inches wide), 4-petaled, white flowers at the top of a square stem

Bloom time:
June-August

Habitat:
Stream banks, shorelines, swamps, roadsides

Can I plant this in my garden?
Prefers part shade and well-drained soils. It can become overly aggressive due to self-seeding and underground spread.
