National Park Service Reduces Free Admission Days in 2018.

This year there were 10 free days and last year there were 16, to coincide with the park service’s 100th anniversary. For two years before that, the number was nine.

Yosemite National Park reminds you to brake for resurrected amphibians.

Yosemite’s Resources Management and Science Division asks park vistors, driving vehicles this fall and winter season, to be conscientious of migrating species.

This time of year brings the migration of the California red-legged frog and the Western pond turtle as they head from pond, river, and slack water to higher ground.

Cars keep hitting black bears in Yosemite, sometimes with deadly results.

As the bruin population increases throughout California, roadway collisions with black bears have become an alarming fact of life. At least 27 have been hit by vehicles in Yosemite this year, continuing a disturbing trend on mountain roads and highways around the state, which has seen at least 100 collisions this past year, wildlife officials said.

As cell service expands, national parks become the latest digital battlegrounds.

WASHINGTON — When John Muir helped establish the National Park Service, he argued that such parks were vital to help people unplug from the world. “Break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods,” Muir was quoted as saying in 1915.
