Into the Night! - Sarasota-Manatee EcoFlora Challenge June 2020

Hello Everyone in the Sarasota-Manatee EcoFlora Project!

Each month we will be focusing on a different subset of plants and while all observations help with our main goal of cataloging plants in our counties there are some that we want to pay particular attention to. This month inspired by Selby Gardens' spectacular queen of the night cactus, Selenicereus pteranthus, this challenge will have you venturing out during the twilight or early morning hours to find the beautiful cactus flowers. This will help us monitor how and when these plants flower throughout the years. This month will also focus on cacti in general which thrive on sandy beaches, scrub land, and even as epiphytes climbing trees. While the Queen of the Night flowers at night many cacti flower during the day so be sure to see, and observe them all!

Show off your cactus photography skills with this June event, INTO THE NIGHT. Join this month's ecoquest here: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/into-the-night-sarasota-manatee-ecoflora-challenge-june-2020
