May 20th, 2020

May 20th, 2020 (Wednesday) 9:30 am – 11:30 am: I found 4 new dead newts, 1 juvenile. They were all new, as I removed all dead newts the week before.
It was a bit cold. It rained on Sunday and Monday in San Jose.
Other roadkills - large frog, a bumblebee, honey bees, many darkling beetles, ant, earthworm.
Coverage: north part - the county park parking lot till the second stop sign.
Rainfall: (MTD: 1.18 in; YTD: 21.65 in). Data from - http://www.weathercat.net/wxraindetail.php
Traffic: 10 truck, 22 cars, 9 bikes, 13 pedestrians, 1 dog (including a MidPen pickup). Two of the trucks didn't go into the quarry. Some of the cars (and trucks) were speeding, and it was quite scary.
All county park parking lots were open, no street parking near the first County Park parking lot.

@merav, people don't understand how dangerous this work is until they experience it for themselves. Please stay safe out there! I really appreciate all the work you're doing. The world is a better place because you're in it.
