Fly Pollination

Flies can be important pollinators and are often overlooked. In studies on Mango Syrphiidae, Caliphoridae and Rhiinidae were more abundant and more efficient (in pollen transferred in a single visit) than honeybees.

I am also interested in plant preferences for the pollinators, particularly for native plants.

If you have any photos or sightings of flies on flowers, I would love you to participate.

Please only upload photos of flies, that you have seen on flowers (it is OK if the photo does not include the flower, as long as you know it has visited a flower). It is also helpful if you know the species (or at least family group) of the plant it was on.

I am starting with only those found in Australia.
