Students from BIOS110 (Biological Sciences) at Lincoln University (New Zealand) collect five insect pollinators and other flower visitors from flowers for identification. They are asked to find five different insect species visiting flowers, or, if that's not possible, then five different insect-flower species combinations.
Each insect is photographed and added as an observation, as well as a separate observation for the flower each insect was collected visiting. Each insect is looked at carefully under a dissection microscope, at up to 35X magnification, for the presence of pollen.
