People often ask me... 'What characters did you use to identify that?'

People who are new to Hymenoptera (parasitic wasp, bee, wasp, ant, sawfly, wood wasp etc.) identification often ask me what characters I used to make identifications, well I could explain every time but that would take a lot of writing, and It's often technical and you can't add diagrams to comments, so I'm recommending people to look at this excellent identification manual which has everything you need to get started. Read and enjoy! https://www.researchgate.net/publication/259227143_Hymenoptera_of_the_World_An_Identification_Guide_to_Families
