Hi all,
From September 25th to September 28th there will be another City Nature Challenge-style BioBlitz running across the Southern Hemisphere. Designed so we can take advantage of our Spring, we'll be competing against cities from around Australia, the Pacific Islands, southern Africa and South America.
Even if you don't have the chance to get out and observe, IDing is just as valuable. Feel free to spread the word to any of the other usual suspects in Sydney that I might have missed.
I expect to see Sydney take out the crown!!
See https://greatsouthernbiobl.wixsite.com/website for more info on the BioBlitz, FAQs, etc.

Thanks @thebeachcomber, an excellent project and needs everyone's support.
Cheers, thanks for the info!
Great to have you guys on board :)
👍 Looking forward to it!
Nice one @thebeachcomber. I've written a quick journal entry on the Australasian Fishes Project that encourages members to get involved and provides a link to your post.

Cheers Henrick :D
Legend @markmcg, much appreciated
What are the geographical limits of "Sydney" for the purposes of this Bioblitz?
Hey Allan, you can see the boundaries here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=142327
(we're using the 'Greater Sydney' place that already exists on iNat)
So I got an email from @markmcg with a link and here I am. All the people making the above comments appear to be part of the "cognoscenti" - I'm in the group that is the opposite of that, whatever that is - maybe one of the IDers knows the latin name for that - feel free to ID. :-)
Some editorial feedback (aka "just saying"): @thebeachcomber - Everyone in the comments seems to know exactly what you are talking about. But me, no idea at all. I did Google "Spring Bioblitz" and now have some idea what it's about, but still no idea how one might be part of the "Sydney Team" or what really what one has to do. So in your above note, maybe a link to something with some more detail would be helpful - or if you can do it in a couple of sentences, just change the note.
Hey @rayvran, cheers for the feedback; I've added a link in above to our main website for the BioBlitz, and you can find all the cities taking place here: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/great-southern-bioblitz-umbrella
Essentially all you have to do (for whichever city/area you may be a part of) is upload observations you make during the 4 days and they'll be automatically collected by the relevant project. So if you're in Sydney, you can head out from September 25th-28th, take photos of anything you're interested in, and upload them by the end of the next week and they'll all count towards the BioBlitz.
@thebeachcomber - the explanation above...perfect!!
Sounds great! I hope to bump into some of you guys out in the field :)
Good one @thebeachcomber
Cheers Amanda, and fingers crossed @pinetrees!
Hi @thebeachcomber , this sounds really great! I'd love to participate, however I'm in Canberra and we don't seem to be a participating area yet. Is it too late to add Canberra for this year?
Hey Claudia, not too late :) We'd love to have yourself and Canberra involved. Here's the info you need to join: https://greatsouthernbiobl.wixsite.com/website/organiser-information
