newt survey 4/01 - southern half (Aldercroft)

17 dead newts, 0 live newts.
April 1, 2020 (Wednesday) 3:12pm
Weather: Dry, sunny, 65F, gorgeous.
Other roadkill: 1 grasshopper.
Coverage: Aldercroft Heights Road intersection to stop sign.
Rainfall: MTD 0in, YTD 18.07in (per http://www.weathercat.net/wxraindetail.php?year=2020)
Traffic: 2 walkers, 8 bicycles, 3 motorcycles, 43 cars, 7 parked cars fishing despite the reservoir being closed

Hardly any today, which isn't really surprising given the dryness. None at all north of the Soda Springs bend. I did find several juveniles, all but one of them in the same area. I removed all the newts that I could, with a few failures that I've noted in the comment below.

There were a few newts that I couldn't get off with stick nor shoe, which I've tagged here for easier comparison for whoever does the south half next:

Seriously considering bringing a spatula next time. Hopefully the rain this weekend will make it down there too, and make this moot!

Hi @sea-kangaroo,
I was checking all the data for this rainy season and noticed that the observations from this survey were not added to the project, so I added them.
@merav, if you notice a change in the total death count, this is the reason why.
The mitigation team is finally moving toward a possible resolution, so I want to make sure all our ducks are in a row as far as data collection is concerned.
