I'm a biologist with broad taxonomic interests. I've published on frogs, hydra, pea aphids, barnacles, starfish, mold, and humans and other primates, along with broad comparative analyses across plants and animals. My research focuses on the evolution of lifespan and mortality patterns. I've taught field biology, ecology, evolution, climate adaptation, and zoology.

I enjoy leading nature hikes, organizing bioblitzes, wildlife photography, and observing behavior. Within Sonoma County, I know the terrestrial vertebrates fairly well, and am working on learning everything else.
