Description

There were two aspects of this crab that were different to the normal Rock Crabs in the area.
First were the white lines along the narrow edges of its legs.
The second was that it burrowed into sand rather than running to find another rock when exposed.

Rock Crab Ozius truncatus

Observer

wamoz

Date

August 5, 2020 12:57 PM ACST

Description

This crab was notable because, rather than hiding under a rock, it was sitting out in the sun and showed no inclination to do otherwise when disturbed.
I saw a number of other crabs doing the same today.
