Many thanks to Radha Veach for the help to resolve the ID. Identified based on following characteristics: Stem and branches nearly glabrous, slender and often tinged with purple. Leaves - upper sessile and smaller than the lower, lower leaves petioled , Broadly elliptic-lanceolate , acute or acuminate with short stiff hairs above and clothed beneath with white woolly tomentum. Peduncles -slender and pubescent. Flowers-purple. Outer involucre bracts tomentose beneath, pointed with a bristle , Outer involucral bracts foliaceous. Pappus sometimes almost white , achenes 10 ribbed , glabrous.
