Description

Dissection confirmed ID relatively short unfolded penis with prominent flagellum. Example of A. valentianus being invasive in bushland (it is the dominant or only species in Hobart gardens but both waterstoni and valentianus occur in the bush.) Photo at home of specimen collected from here.

Description

Dissection confirmed ID - long folded penis without flagellum. Again, poor quality photos taken at home of specimens collected at this location, but what I have. Quite small specimens but 1 was mature.

Description

Date is estimated (definitely mid-1982). As so many excellent Cypraeidae observations have been uploaded for this area it is becoming a nice inventory of the species that have been recorded there. So I thought I'd add one historic record to the list. Length 27 mm. ID confirmed Felix Lorenz mid-late 2000s. Specimen not in great condition and only survived various weedings of my collection because I did not know what it was.

Description

Have walked past this area many times this year but only a few weeks ago noticed a large population of this species extending for a few blocks along the rivulet, most visible on the north side of the rivulet but a few on the southern side. Did not see any other marsh snails with them. (Not sure how far up the Derwent they go; I did find a dead one at Cornelian Bay once.)

Description

Unusually far upriver record for this species and a new one for me for my current "home beach" (such as it is).. Could be a discard but inclined to think probably natural since (i) condition typical of shells washed up in area (ii) more shells than usual washed up on beach today.

Tentative ID as this is the species with previous Tasmanian records from Bridport area. Photo by @simongrove . Have seen many polyxenidans in Tasmania but not this one - very fast running!
