The bright colours warn predators that they are nasty tasting and shouldnt be eaten.

Field Notes - Not sure if i should be submitting for the ants or the affids....... both pretty cool. This flowering gum was just buzzing literally with life- i had to crop a bee out of the photo!
Ants approx 2mm. Appear to be ‘farming’ the affids.

Field Notes - This tree has yellow flowers when in season. This time of year they have big seed pods approx 5cm long and full of red/orange round seeds the size of a green pea.

Field Notes - Flowering now in April. bright pink flowers, approximately 3cm in diameter, attracting many pollinators.
Long drak green leaves roughly 5-10cm long.
On this prticular tree i found ants, bees, a paper wasp empty nest, and two different types of cocoons.

Field Notes - Two little mice. One larger than other- possibly mother and baby as the smaller one keeps coming up and sniffing the larger mouses’ nose. Nibbling on pink flowers and hiding under scrubby bushes in a playground. Super cute!!!
