Description

The species is not 100% sure yet, but is here placed mostly as a placeholder (the most probable identification). The possession of smooth chelicerae rules out Graecophalangium spp. and Dasylobus arcadicus (see Muranyi 2013 and 2015). On top of that, the spiny surface of the pedipalps and in a smaller degree (as it can be very variable) the color pattern point towards this species. In any case, I have kept this male and intend to examine again those characters (plus genitals) with the help of a stereoscope when I'll have more time.

Not the best photo, but because it is the first one of a manca for this species and probably for the whole genus, I thought that it was worth to be shared! I hope that I will be able to take a better one some time in the future!

Mating behavior. The two individuals stayed still, face-to-face for many minutes (perhaps even hours), only touching and ''communicating'' by waving their antennae.

Description

This species is very common in this area. Females can be seen from about the end of June to the middle of August (with a peak in July). Males are usually seen a little later (from mid-July to about the first days of September). They are not such good fliers, as they bump on nearly everything searching for females! I have also seen them mating, but couldn't take a picture of them yet!
