2nd Nature Walk on Oct 10
I went on my second nature walk today. I walked around Hammond Pond Reservation and Houghton Garden. It was windy and cold, suggesting that autumn is finally here. Today I focused on looking for fungus. At first I was a little disappointed because I only saw lichens. But when my natural walk was coming to an end, I found many different types of mushrooms. Actually these fungus, no matter they are lichens or mushrooms, are all living in similar environments. They all are living on either trunks or rocks. However, usually I could only find one type of fungi in a certain area. I can tell the influence of founder effect here. Once a certain type of fungi came to live here. It took over the place and spread its offsprings all over the place. But anyway, today's nature walk is very fun and successful. I can't wait for my next nature walk.
