In December 2023 - January 2024, I went with my father to Laos and Vietnam, then continued onwards by myself to the Philippines.

I went to Orange to attend the November 2023 Future Orchards Spring Series - Orange. On the way back, I took detours through Spring Creek, Spring Hill, Millthorpe, Windradyne, Bathurst, Lithgow, Katoomba and Lawson to see if I can help collect even more thrips.

I planned a trip to the Central West to attend this event near Garema: Loam's Soil Carbon Field Day - soil carbon projects for cropping and mixed farms🌱. My parents came along because they wanted to see spring flowers, especially canola.

Here are the observations I took during the trip, and I was surprised to see so many adult Amegilla sp. in Orange.

In December 2022 - January 2023, I went on a family holiday to Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, the UK and Germany.

I needed to drive my mother to certain events in Canberra, and to make the best use of my time, I used the trip for nature photography and soil sampling.

Protip: Need to identify precise location in the National Arboretum? Identify a nearby plant, then enter plant name into https://nac.arboretumexplorer.org/, which has a list of every plant in the arboretum and their exact locations.

Also note that you need to apply ahead of time to sample soil from the National Arboretum, and you need supervision to sample soil from vineyards in the ACT to reduce risks of spreading Phylloxera.

I have failed my PhD position. Attached are the observations I took on the final fieldwork trips to retrieve university equipment.
