Walk on 10/14/2020

I took a beautiful walk around the res starting at about 4 pm today. The weather was very nice, especially compared to yesterday where it rained almost the entire day. It was a beautiful fall day, with some leaves already changing and falling, yet warm enough to even wear a tank top on my walk. I specifically looked for each grouping of plants and was successful in observing at least one organism from each major group. I observed some squirrels, geese, and even a chipmunk with food in its mouth that I was able to take pictures of. Although close in proximity to campus, the res is a beautiful place to get into a natural space and clear your head. It is perfect for a run or a short nature walk like this one.

Walk on 10/7/2020

I went to the Webster Conservation Area, and I had a nice walk as a break from the busyness of the school week. It was starting to get cloudy and dark, and I could feel in the air that a storm was coming, which is here now as I listen to the thunder from inside my dorm. It began drizzling just as my walk ended, so I was thankful that it held out while I walked. There were a lot more leaves on the ground compared to last week, it truly felt like fall on my walk. I saw a random dog running around, who had a harness on but no owner. I saw quite the variety of fungi, in line with the theme of this nature walk. I enjoyed looking for fungi, especially because I never really notice it in comparison to the plants and occasional animals.

Walk on 9/30/2020

On my first nature walk, I took a very enjoyable walk around Webster Woods/ Hammond Pond. I went in the late afternoon, and was pleastantly surprised by this spot that was pretty close to campus. The weather was almost perfect, despite raining this morning. It was sunny, but not too hot. I saw many great plants to take photos of, and I even found what I believe to be a type of fungi. The algae on the pond was especially interesting to me. I went with 2 of my roommates, who enjoyed the walk just as much as I did, taking a break from all of the stress of midterms. We also saw a couple other people walking around, and even saw some dogs.
