Nature Walk: October 8-17

I went to the Chestnut Hill Reservoir for the first time for my nature walk. I went in between my classes on Thursday in the mid-morning. The reservoir was very nice to walk around, and there were people walking their dogs or just going for a walk around it as well. The only downside was it was pretty chilly and the wind was pretty strong, making it feel even colder. As for the plants, there were a bunch of different types of plants on the side of the water, along with lots of trees and plants on the outside part of the path. The trees were starting to change colors which made for a scenic walk, and more interesting than the usual green. Overall, my walk was enjoyable and I saw many interesting plants, and even some geese/swans.

Nature Walk: September 20-27

I went for a walk today with my friend in the Newton woods, otherwise known as Edmands Park in Newton, Massachusetts. There are a bunch of trails in the park, including ones for walking, mostly dog-walkers, as well as ones for mountain biking. I walked around the backside of the park, near a neighborhood of Newton, walking along the marsh area within in the park. My friend and I saw lots of interesting plants but not a lot of animals because of the weather. It was drizzling when we set out on the walk, and by mid way through it was raining pretty steadily. Besides the rain, it was mild out, not too hot and not too cold. It was interesting to see how different the woods looked in the rain, as I have walked around the same area on sunny days. It was much quieter as birds were not chirping, and there were no squirrels rummaging around. Although the weather wasn't great, my friend and I still had an enjoyable walk in Edmands Park.

Nature Walk: September 10-17

I went for a walk today in Edmands Park in Newton, Massachusetts. It is a series of walking trails, where it seems like a lot of people go to walk their dogs. The woods seemed to be pretty typical of the area, with lots of trees and plants around. There was not a lot of animals, as I only saw a couple of squirrels and the bees I took a picture of. The wildlife in the park wasn't that diverse but there was still a lot of flora and fauna to check out. As I walked, I passed multiple stone fireplaces sitting just off the trail. There were other stone structures that looked similar, but I wasn't sure what they were. There was also a small stream in the park, which had a wetlands sort of area around it. The weather was perfect, as it was 75, sunny, with a slight breeze. The bugs weren't bad except around the stream area, where I got bitten a couple of times.
