At top of a sandy ridge in deciduous woods. Probably C. swanii, possibly “fuzzy wuzzy”.
Leaves tightly folded, narrow V or T shaped to appearing triangular, in age becoming V, M or nearly flat; ascending scabrous-ciliate on margins; adaxial surface ascending hirsute, abaxial surface tomentose with ~0.3 mm hairs. Lowest 2 leaves (from previous year) bladeless, fibrous. Ligule fringed, 1.4 mm high at leaf blade 2 mm wide, membrane about 0.15 mm wide.
