Description

1.5cm black beetle with oval shaped body. Elytra are slightly striated and textured, and the antennae segmented. Feet are small and hooked. Visible eyes and mandibles.
Found with a buddy, unbothered by my presence.

Description

Extremely small black/brown weevil found underside a rock in an urban garden strip. Almost half a centimetre in size. Displayed the classic ‘tuck and roll’ motion when disturbed.
Elongated weevil proboscis with ‘L’ shaped antennae.

Description

Shiny black beetle around 1.5cm in length. Smooth iridescent black surface and rounded oval shape. Elytra have shallow striations running down their length. Segmented antennae and thin legs with small feet.
Found climbing the side of a eucalyptus tree.

Description

Longhorn beetle found on a eucalyptus tree. Long, slim elongated body with short thorax and large eyes. Antennae are segmented and equal in length to the specimens body. Large heart shaped feet.
Body is assorted mottled browns with a pitted surface.
This specimen was in a hurry and was difficult to halt for a photo.

Description

Small weevil found on young eucalyptus leaves. Long slim body with mottled grey, black and white peppered colouring all over. Elytra and thorax are not entirely smooth but not significantly textured.
Elbowed antennae located from the base of the snout. Small hooked feet and large eyes.

Description

Small brown beetle found on a passion vine. Around 1cm in length, with fiddle shaped elytra.
Small thorax and head compared to the abdomen, elytra covered in very fine sparse peach fuzz. Slight bronzing shine on the elytra. Long segmented antennae, gently curved like bull horns.

Description

Small beetle found underneath rotted log with large tunnels bored into its underside.
Body akin to a weevil with thick striated elytra and tapered thorax. Prominent, thick and long antennae placed on the top of the head, resting backwards along the body.
Dark brown with slight light grey patterning.
Specimen around 2cm in length.

Description

Very small beetle that landed on my arm. Oval shape around the size of a raindrop, or Arborio rice grain.
Light brown with dark brown zig zag pattens down the elytra. Small head and large black eyes, segmented antennae around the same length as the body.
