Mature Loggerhead in winter, with all black beak & thick, bold mask starting at the base of the beak and spreading well past the eye (broader black mask than Northern). No barring on chest. Perched low, at approx 3 meters, swooping down to catch unwary prey.

Pie-grièche migratrice en hiver, avec un bec entièrement noir et un masque épais commençant à la base du bec et s'étendant bien au-delà de l'œil (masque noir plus large que l’espèce du Nord). Aucune barre sur la poitrine. Perché bas, à environ 3 mètres de hauteur, plongeant pour attraper des proies imprudentes.
