Rakali

Hydromys chrysogaster

In the Adelaide region 2

Largely nocturnal or crepuscular but may be active throughout the day. Common in and along permanent bodies of freshwater such as swamps, creeks, rivers, dams and lakes, but often elusive. The River Torrens to the west of the CBD is probably the best place to see this species in the state.
