the subfamily is empty. Needs to either be merged with family or have genera added. |

The most recent paper on this subfamily is available for free through WSC here. It states "The subfamily is composed of four genera: Phonognatha, Deliochus, Zygiella and Leviellus. This has beens recently reduced by a third by Gregorič et al. (2015), who synonymized Parazygiella Wunderlich, 2004 with Zygiella, and Stroemiellus Wunderlich, 2004 with Leviellus."
@cmcheatle: As I noted in the flag, I (who is the spider curator) can not find a non paywalled version of the needed reference to do the work.
The site does not expect its curators to pay for access to material to do work. As a point of conscience, I will not use one of the services which bypass paywalls. I wish more articles and journals were open access, but if authors choose or are forced to publish in pay to access ones, I believe their rights/decision need to be honoured.
Someone posted another link in the flag to the reference today, but beyond the abstract, it too is locked to folks who do not have to Oxford journals.
The notes put into the flag today at least provide needed information to move some species, which is not in the free to read abstract. I will try to do that in the next day or so. However, I do not know if this is all the needed changes.
WSCA members can read the article linked above for free by clicking the PDF icon. (Membership for WSCA is free.)

time to resolve?
@cmcheatle can you please graft these genera to Zygiellinae? Thanks!
Deliochus
Leviellus
Phonognatha
Zygiella
@cmcheatle I have legal access to that paper through my university and would be happy to share the PDF with you (e.g., over email), if you are interested.
The link, above, refers:
Kuntner et al. 2023 make compelling arguments that:
-Nephilinae be resurrected to family rank
-the leaf-curling spider genera presently under Zygiellinae, as well as the genus Artiphex be placed in the family Phonognathidae.
-the family, Paraplectanoididae fam.nov. be separated from Araneidae, containing the single genus, Paraplectanoides.
Accordingly, the "araneid" orb-weavers, will now reside in four sister families:
Araneidae, currently 175 genera (WSC 2023)
Nephilidae, containing 7 genera: Clitaetra, Herennia, Indoetra, Nephila, Nephilengys, Nephilingis and Trichonephila
Paraplectanoididae with one genus, Paraplectanoides
and
Phonognathidae with 5 genera, Artiphex, Deliochus, Leviellus Phonognatha and Zygiella.
WSC has adopted the revisions:
https://wsc.nmbe.ch/family/9/Araneidae
https://wsc.nmbe.ch/family/62/Nephilidae
https://wsc.nmbe.ch/family/153/Phonognathidae
https://wsc.nmbe.ch/family/154/Paraplectanoididae
Time to effect the changes? I'd be be happy to oblige.
This one appears to be undergoing fairly recent revisions. There are surprisingly few references to it in a web search. There is at least 1 2018 article by Kallal proposing revisions, but it is locked behind a paywall (at least any version I can find) so I cant read/review.
